The ‘Rest and Digest’ digest" state is a vital physiological response that allows our bodies to recover and rejuvenate. Also known as the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), this response counters the "fight or flight" response by slowing down bodily activity after stress, helping the body return to a calm, balanced state. During the "rest and digest" mode, the body prioritizes activities related to rest, recovery, and digestion. This state is essential for enhancing digestion, allowing the body to break down food and absorb nutrients, and promoting recovery by repairing and regenerating tissues after stress or exertion". Additionally, the "rest and digest" state helps regulate mood and reduce anxiety levels, promoting emotional balance.
